Spring-Summer Alert: Protect Your Dog from Leishmaniosis

Leishmaniosis is a serious disease transmitted by the Phlebotomus mosquito, especially active during spring and summer. To protect your dog, a combination of repellents and new medical solutions is essential.

 Effective Repellents

  • Scalibor collar (MSD): Proven mosquito repellent.

  • Advantix pipettes (Bayer): Protects against fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes.

  • Vectra 3D (Ceva): Broad-spectrum protection.
    Avoid walking your dog at dawn or dusk, when mosquitoes are most active.

 New Letifend Vaccine

Letifend is a new-generation leishmaniosis vaccine that requires only one initial dose (vs. 3 for Canileish).

  • Immunity starts 28 days after administration.

  • Annual booster recommended.

  • Only suitable for healthy dogs over 6 months.

  • A SNAP test is required to confirm the dog is not already infected.

 Leisguard Syrup

  • Contains domperidone to boost immunity.

  • Daily for 30 days, protection lasts 4 months.

  • Recommended administration: October, February, and June.

  • Also helps early-stage infected dogs.
